LET'S TALK: TRAVEL REMINISCING

Hello lovely people!

L E T ' S T A L K… about one of the beautiful luxuries of the pre-pandemic world: travel. Though the cancellation of trips and vacation plans isn’t the most urgent concern during a pandemic, it still has affected many. As employees have adapted to the work-from-home model over the last few months, many have decided they will use Zoom meetings instead of flying across the world in the future. There are many eyes on the hospitality and tourism industry at the moment… hopefully when it is safe to do so, consumers will support it by reintroducing both work-related and leisure trips.

Until then, one thing we can do is reflect on our past travel experiences. I am very thankful that last summer, my mom did an amazing job of planning a family trip to Italy. My younger sister and I had not yet been to Europe and we waited years to go at the perfect time. Little did we know how perfect that timing really was- pushing it off for one more year would have meant cancellations and uncertainty about when the opportunity would arise again.

Our nationality is 100% Italian, with ancestors from both sides of the family immigrating to the United States a few generations back. It was so special to experience the culture, art, cuisine, and natural beauty of the country that our parents had told us stories about through the years.

I was planning to study abroad in Florence in Fall 2020, but that experience has been cancelled as a result of COVID-19. This development was met with great disappointment… but it’s most important that Italy- and the world- can focus on healing.

I first began making this video when we returned from the trip last summer, and accidentally deleted the entire file prior to its completion. It wasn’t until quarantine that I had the opportunity to remake the video. As I began reviewing the footage over the last few weeks, I became all the more grateful for the time I was able to spend with my family in Italy last year. Check it out below!

Stay tuned and talk soon,
