Massachusetts Conference for Women 2022

I had the opportunity to attend the Massachusetts Conference for Women alongside other members of Women @ Bose.

It was inspiring to listen to keynote speakers such as Viola Davis and Jameela Jamil speak candidly about their career paths and how they overcame moments of imposter syndrome and self-doubt while in pursuit of their successes.

Something that really resonated with me was their conversation about “perfectionism”- and how counterproductive and draining it is for anyone, at any level, to attempt to achieve it.

In my past life as a competitive figure skater, I experienced the physical and mental exhaustion that came with attempting to achieve “perfection”. Eventually, my time in the sport taught me to accept and even embrace failure as a source of growth… and that’s something I’ve brought into my personal, academic, and now professional life.

This time last year, I decided that I wanted to keep this thought so front-of-mind that I created my own phone case that says “progress > perfection”…

Hearing this mantra reinforced by these two successful actresses was so grounding and one of the many great moments of the day!

I also enjoyed running into fellow Bentley University alumni and tuning into the virtual component that featured keynotes from Reese Witherspoon, Misty Copeland, and the former President of Bentley, Gloria Larson.
